Don't confuse this estate with its famous Calistoga namesake — Volker Eisele Family is a different family entirely, tucked away in Napa's cooler, higher Chiles Valley District. Founded by Volker Eisele in 1974 and farmed organically from the very beginning, the estate is now run by his wife Liesel and son Alexander, who continue the founder's vision of restrained, food-friendly Napa wines. The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is a deliciously unusual take on the variety — co-fermented in stainless steel with 18% Sémillon, giving it a textured, almost Bordeaux-blanc feel underneath the bright Meyer lemon, passion fruit, and wet-stone minerality. Loire-inspired and concentrated, this isn't your average Napa SB.

Made entirely in stainless steel, it boasts grassy and grapefruity aromas, and it's fresh and zesty on the nose. A natural with shellfish — oysters, ceviche, grilled shrimp. Also lovely with goat cheese salads, roast chicken with herbs, summer crudités, or pan-seared white fish dressed with lemon and olive oil.

Tasting Profile

Medium-bodied and concentrated, with Meyer lemon, passion fruit, mandarin, and jasmine layered over a textured, almost waxy Sémillon-driven mid-palate. The finish is dry, mineral, and persistent — wet-stone grip carrying through bright citrus.
