Some of the most storied vine rows in Cornas, in the hands of the family that made them famous. Emmanuelle Verset farms parcels tied to Noël Verset's legacy, including the legendary Champelrose that her father Alain took over, and carries the family's obsessive dedication to precise winemaking. Noël, the genius Cornas producer whose bottles now fetch a fortune at auction, stopped making wine in 2006; this is the through-line, carried into the next generation. Verset farms top sites with older vines in the granite hills of Cornas, working with respect for terroir and a love of tradition, and this bottling blends her lieux-dits across the hill — Champelrose, Reynard, Les Mazards, La Côte and Les Côtes. It is 100% Syrah from the Northern Rhône's most uncompromising appellation. 2020 was warm and dry with enough winter water in the soil to keep the vines comfortable, so the wine carries real concentration and depth without excess alcohol. Give it air, or tuck it away for years.

Their vineyard is anchored by the legendary La Geynale, where some vines top 100 years old—inherited from her great-uncle Noël, a name that still moves wine people to reverent whispers. She's gone full organic, uses 100% whole cluster fermentation, and blends five lieux-dits into wines that taste like they're made of stone and time and pure intention.

VINEYARD

The vines are located in the heart of Cornas on 5 plots (Mazard, Champelrose, la Côte, les Côtes and a small part of Reynard).

SOIL

VITICULTURE

Practicing organic with emphasis on biodiversity. The grapes are harvested manually.

VINIFICATION

Whole cluster fermentation lasting 2 weeks with manual punching down (in the morning) and pumping over (in the evening). After devatting, the plots are assembled.

AGING

Aged 15 months in 3-8 year-old oak barrels of 225-440L from several French coopers.
