Alain Burguet built this Gevrey domaine from scratch, and "Mes Favorites" is his signature: old-vine Pinot Noir pulled from around thirty small parcels across seven of the village's lieux-dits, fermented with wild yeasts and given long, patient barrel aging. This 2006 has crossed comfortably into its mature window, the fruit folding into the savory, earthy register that good aged Gevrey delivers. It's village-level on paper, but the age of the vines and the careful old-school winemaking push it well above its station. A back vintage that's drinking in its sweet spot right now.

Alain Burguet started from scratch in Gevrey-Chambertin in 1976, piecing together over 40 small parcels as older vineyard owners retired. Now Jean-Luc and Eric Burguet run the domaine—working 9.5 hectares organically since the late '70s and biodynamically now, 100% destemmed fruit, minimal new oak, unfined and unfiltered. These are Pinot Noirs built for meditation, not showing off. Pure, mineral, alive.
