Ainda means "yet" or "still" in Portuguese—a nod to the wine's potential to evolve. This palhete (a co-fermentation of red and white grapes) blends fruit from 60 to 100-year-old vines cultivated by small farmers, mixing roughly 40 varieties of red and white. Indigenous yeast fermentation in a lagar followed by natural malolactic conversion and aging in stainless steel, then bottling without clarification or filtration. The 2022 shows vivid cranberry and flower aromas with a stony mineral note. The palate is medium-bodied with polished, nearly nonexistent tannins, vibrant acidity, and an ethereal finish.

More about Antonio Madeira

António Madeira was born in Paris in 1978 after his father fled Salazar in 1970. He worked as an engineer in France, then decided in 2010 to return to his Portuguese roots in Serra da Estrela (Dão), near Santa Marinha. He's assembled 8 hectares across 20 plots in 6 villages, working with real intimacy and intention. Natural winemaking, organic farming, wines that taste like mountain air and patience. This is a reclamation story told in liquid form.
