Nestled in the warm microclimate of Carmel Valley, Fox Creek Vineyard provides the perfect conditions for Arnot-Roberts to craft a Pinot Noir that’s both vibrant and complex. The 2023 vintage stands out with its balance of richness and freshness, a true reflection of the vineyard’s unique terroir.

The wine opens with aromas of ripe red berries—cherry and raspberry—blended with earthy spice and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, it’s silky and smooth, with fine tannins that lend structure without overshadowing the fresh fruit. A subtle minerality runs through the wine, adding depth and focus, and the finish is clean, with lingering notes of red fruit and earth.

Ideal with roasted duck, grilled mushrooms, or a charcuterie board, Fox Creek 2023 is versatile enough to complement a variety of dishes. Its elegance and depth make it perfect for both immediate enjoyment and aging, with the ability to develop more complexity over time.

Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, along with a small group of fellow trailblazers, have led the way in helping redefine what California wine can be and taste like. Their wines have a deep sense of terroir, refined and elegant structure and are deliciously complex. In 2001, when they began this endeavor, finding local wines with these qualities was tough. But along with their aforementioned colleagues, they started a small revolution and these days you can walk into many a wine shop and find an example of what's been coined, “The New California Wine”.

But, perhaps a better sobriquet for Duncan and Nathan's wines might be The New California Classic. Their wines are a nod to the great California wines made in the decades before Parkerization. They have shown that California is capable of producing wines that shine in their youth and will gracefully age to glorious full maturity.

Arnot Roberts has become synonymous with New California wine in a lot of ways. Since their founding in 2001, they've spent a lot of time scouring the state for some of the best previously unknown vineyard sites, doing so with a respect for the environment that is nothing short of remarkable. They work with all their growers to encourage organic farming and minimize their environmental impact: these are wines that are not only delicious, but that you can feel good about drinking.

Like all great winemakers, the cornerstone of Duncan and Nathan’s approach starts in the vineyard. They are dedicated to finding super distinct and unique sites from Mendocino in the North to the Santa Cruz Mountains South of the Bay Area. Their enormous respect for California’s terroir have led them to some of the state’s most celebrated vineyards. But they aren’t just about the famous sites; they know the state is full of amazing and still unheralded regions and they’ve done an incredible job of hunting out great vines in very special spots.

"The 2023 Pinot Noir Fox Creek Vineyard is a bold, potent wine. Macerated cherry, spice, orange peel, sage, cedar, new leather and earthy notes fill out the layers. This sturdy yet mid-weight Pinot has a ton of character, even if the tannins are a bit burly." -Antonio Galloni

What importer Polaner Selections has to say about this wine...

Vineyard
The Fox Creek Vineyard is a stunning planting situated at 1100’ on a remote ridge above the Carmel Valley in Monterey County. The vineyard was planted in 2006 to Dijon clones 667 and 115. This meticulously farmed vineyard produces tiny, compact clusters of fruit that deliver soaring aromatics and concentrated, crystalline flavors inflected with salinity from the influence of the nearby ocean. The long, cool growing conditions at Fox Creek, coupled with biodynamic farming techniques allow for pure varietal expression at low potential alcohol.

Demeter certified biodynamic
Vinification
100% whole cluster fermented in stainless steel using all native yeasts.

10 months in neutral, French oak.
