Charles Joguet is the producer who put Chinon on the map, the man who applied Burgundy's terroir thinking to Cabernet Franc and proved this Loire grape could deliver myriad single-vineyard expressions. Clos de la Dioterie is the domaine's flagship: an old-vine, north-east-facing parcel on calcareous clay that yields the deepest, most ageworthy of the lineup. Dark, mysterious, and intense in youth, these wines need years. At well over a decade on, the 2012, a cooler and structured vintage, is now opening into its mature, savory window.

Joguet is another jewel in the Kermit Lynch portfolio, the domaine is situated just between the Loire and Vienne Rivers in the AOC of Chinon. Vinified separately, according to parcel since the 1950's, the estate is now run by winemaker Kevin Fontaine and wines are divided into 2 categories: those meant for early consumption, and those meant to age.
