A Third Growth Margaux built on roughly 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, Cantenac-Brown's 2015 shows the opulence and structure this prestigious vintage delivered. The nose offers crème de cassis, caramelized cherries, flowers, and spices; on the palate, red fruit—raspberry and wild strawberry—mingles with sous-bois and tobacco, violet emerging with air. Medium to full-bodied with perfectly balanced tannins, the wine combines freshness and richness. Drinkable now but will peak with 12–15 years bottle age and remain graceful for 25–30 years.

Antonio Galloni

93 points

"The 2015 Cantenac Brown displays more red fruit compared directly with the 2016: raspberry and wild strawberry intermingled with sous-bois and tobacco, violet aromas emerging with time. Lovely focus here, though not the panache of the following vintage. The palate is beginning to loosen up with lithe tannins, fleshy and harmonious, tart red cherries, allspice and clove with a grippy and quite persistent finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a wonderful Margaux that should drink a little earlier than the 2016. Tasted at the Cantenac Brown vertical at the château." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

90 points

"The 2015 Cantenac Brown is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of cherry cola, cassis and warm plums with touches of spice box and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate sports a lot of oak, with very firm and chewy tannins and a woody finish." —Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Decanter

95 points

"I love the fruit here, with pure´ed damson and deeply focussed, bitter dark chocolate. It has lovely grip and persistency, a wine that you want to take your time with and watch as it develops. It is poised and balanced, with lots of impact and well-extracted, not afraid to push things, but pulls back at the end. 60% new oak."

Wine Spectator

94 points

"This brims with voluble plum cake, boysenberry and blackberry compote flavors, embedded with brambly structure while keeping a polished feel overall. Alluring black tea, roasted alder and licorice details line the finish. You’ll want to jump on this one. Best from 2022 through 2035."

Wine Enthusiast

96 points

"Beautiful dusty tannins permeate this ripe wine. It has a smooth and rich texture, with bright blackberry flavors and a refreshing, vibrant close."
