Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion from an estate first documented in 1868 under Pierre Magne, a minister to Napoleon III. The name means "the watered one"—an underground spring feeds the property. François Rodhain modernized and began estate-bottling in 1957. The vineyard sits on the southern slopes near Château Ausone: clay and silica-limestone with excellent southern exposure. 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Note: In 2013, L'Arrosée was purchased by Domaine Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion) and merged into Château Quintus. This 2000 is pre-merger, fully mature.

Robert Parker

88 points

"The resurgence of l’Arrosee that we’ve seen over the last four or five years is not apparent in the 2000. It has matured quickly, revealing an orange/rust color at its rim. Notes of earth, herbes de Provence, black cherries, red currants, and dusty, loamy soil undertones are present in this elegant, fully mature, medium-bodied 2000. Drink it over the next 5-7 years." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Wine Spectator

92 points

"Powerful and decadent young red. Lots of smoky, berry and cherry character. Full-bodied and very chewy, with loads of fruit. This always impresses me, with its rich and decadent character. Best after 2009."

Intense garnet with aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, and graphite. Powerful structure with ripe tannins, flavors of dark cherry, plum, and spice with an impressive, long finish.
