A cult grower's entry red from a warm, generous vintage. Denis Bachelet has farmed his tiny Gevrey-Chambertin domaine since 1983, prizing finesse and using full destemming with measured oak. His Cotes de Nuits-Villages is pure, well-built Pinot Noir, and 2015 was a ripe, warm, opulent Burgundy year that gave wines more flesh and depth than usual. With a decade in bottle the richness has settled into balance, ready to enjoy now and over the next several years.

Antonio Galloni

88 points

"Good dark red. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, smoke and animal fur, plus a slight fruit compote character from the very dry conditions of the year. Then sweeter and more refined in the mouth than the Bourgogne, offering an attractive balance of sucrosité and salinity. Finishes with good length and fine-grained tannins." —Stephen Tanzer

Robert Parker

90 points

"The 2015 Côte de Nuits-Villages is very good, its lovely bouquet of cassis, cherries, plums, raw cocoa and rich soil introducing a rich, ample wine structured around fine-grained, chalky tannins, with a long, penetrating finish. The core of this cuvée derives from the lieu-dit Que de Hareng in Brochon, effectively a continuation of Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles but only entitled to the Côte de Nuits-Villages classification." —William Kelley
