A Sancerre-minded Sauvignon Blanc from Oregon, made by Portland's most European-leaning urban winery. Division Winemaking Company runs the Division-Villages label as their bistro-tier project — wines that channel European inspirations for the weeknight table. La Frontière is sourced from two organically farmed Sauvignon Blanc sites: a 7.5-acre parcel in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley and the Allegre Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge, planted to Friulian clones. The wine is raised in a mix of stainless steel, neutral Burgundy barrel, and puncheon — a light hand designed to let site speak. The result is a Sauvignon that nods more toward Sancerre than Marlborough: zippy, mineral, citrus-driven, with quiet textural complexity from time in wood. Drink chilled and young.

More about Division

Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe founded Division Winemaking Company in Portland in 2010, dedicated to Gamay and other varieties that American winemakers overlook. Their rosé of Gamay is sourced from Washington's Yakima Valley and fermented with indigenous yeast in neutral tanks. They make approachable, balanced wines inspired by Loire, Beaujolais, and Burgundy. The largest maker of Gamay in the US.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Built for fresh, clean fare: oysters, ceviche, grilled white fish, goat cheese salads, asparagus, sushi, herb-roasted chicken, or a summer pasta with peas, lemon, and ricotta.

Tasting Profile

Light to medium-bodied, bright and zippy — lemon zest, green apple, gooseberry, fresh herbs, and crushed stones. Crisp acidity drives the palate; subtle lees and oak texture lend depth on a clean, mineral finish.
