Effectively a baby Chateauneuf at Cotes du Rhone level: Charvin's Cotes du Rhone comes from old-vine parcels just outside the appellation line. It's a Grenache-led blend with Mourvedre, Carignan, and Syrah, raised in concrete with no oak, made much like the estate's flagship. Charvin farms organically and works traditionally, so you get the domaine's signature perfume and finesse at a fraction of the Chateauneuf ask. This is a mature back-vintage bottle from a private collection, and around fifteen years in it has shifted toward the savory, earthy register. Drink up.

Laurent Charvin represents the sixth generation of his family's Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate, and he's done something radical: converted all 28 hectares to organic. Whole-cluster fermentation goes into concrete tanks instead of barrels, letting the fruit speak without oak interference. This is Châteauneuf for people who want generosity without excess.
