Édouard Vocoret left his family's larger Chablis house to make wine his own way — tiny single plots, wild yeasts, no new oak, minimal sulfur — and his wife Eleni brings the imprint of her time with the great Dauvissat. 'Bas de Chapelot' is their only right-bank parcel, sitting at the base of the celebrated Chapelot climat of Montée de Tonnerre, on deeper Kimmeridgian clay and limestone with vines around 40 years old. Think of it as a baby Montée de Tonnerre: crystalline and flinty, all river-stone minerality and cut, with texture built from long lees aging rather than oak. 2024 was a brutal, tiny vintage in Chablis, which makes this classical, saline, deeply mineral white all the more precious. Chablis as it's meant to taste — nervy, honest, and alive.

Antonio Galloni

92 points

"The 2024 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot has a well-defined, mineral-driven bouquet with a light sea spray note. The palate is brisk, breezy and well balanced with fine definition, a touch of orange rind and a hint of bitter lemon on the finish. There's nice linearity here." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

90 points

"Aromas of grapefruit, pear and white flowers introduce the 2024 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot, a medium- to full-bodied, incisive and taut wine that is racy and has ample structuring extract, concluding in a long, saline finish. As readers will know, it derives from deep soils close to the river." —Kristaps Karklins
