Domenico Clerico's Ginestra Ciabot Mentin comes from the great Ginestra cru in Monforte d'Alba, with vines planted in 1978 between 390 and 420 meters, and it was among the wines that helped redefine modern Barolo. This 1989, from a celebrated vintage and a private collection, is a fully mature Nebbiolo: tar, rose, dried cherry, truffle, and leather, with the structure resolved into silk. His four legendary crus—Ginestra, Bussia, Pajana, Mosconi—sit on limestone soils that demand time and respect. At 21 hectares producing 110,000 bottles yearly, Clerico remains one of Piedmont's most respected voices.
