High-altitude Etna from a Canarian winemaker drawn to volcanic terroir. Eduardo Torres Acosta grew up with his father's vines in Tenerife, studied enology, then landed on Mount Etna in 2012 working with Arianna Occhipinti and Passopisciaro. Quota N comes from a half-hectare parcel at 1,070 meters—too high for DOC Etna, hence the IGT designation. The ungrafted bush vines are 80-100 years old, co-planted in the old style. Organic farming, native yeast, concrete aging, minimal sulfur. Vibrant, mineral-driven, and utterly distinctive.

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine:

50% Nerello Mascalese/30% Grenache/20% Grecanico-Carricante-Coda di Volpe. "Quota N" comes from a half-hectare parcel of ungrafted (hence piedi franco on label), mixed-variety alberello vines in the contrada of Nave on the north face of Mt. Etna. Restoring this neglected plot of fragile, 80-100-year-old bushes has been a labor of love. The farming is now fully organic. The vineyard lies high up at 1070 meters and features very rocky, sandy volcanic soils.
