A genuine rarity: a back-vintage 1988 Vin Santo from Felsina, one of the great estates of Chianti Classico. Vin Santo is Tuscany's traditional sweet wine, made from grapes dried on mats for months then fermented and aged for years in small sealed barrels (caratelli) in attic-like rooms that swing through the seasons. The result is an intense, oxidative nectar that ages almost indefinitely. At this age, a half-bottle from 1988 is pure liquid history, deeply mature and complex. Serve in small pours after dinner.

Tasting Profile

Rich, oxidative sweet wine: caramel, dried apricot, fig, walnut, and orange peel, with bright acidity keeping it from cloying. Long, nutty, mature finish.
