This is white Burgundy from the cool, high ground above Beaune, and in Jean-Philippe Fichet's hands the Hautes-Cotes de Beaune becomes a genuine bargain with real Meursault pedigree behind it. Fichet is one of his village's master winemakers, and he treats this wine seriously: hand-farmed Chardonnay, patient 18-month elevage in mostly used oak and then tank, minimal lees stirring to keep everything fresh and transparent. The higher altitude lends extra freshness and cut, exactly the energy Fichet prizes. The 2024 is bright and precise. An easygoing, food-friendly white Burgundy to drink young, from one of the most reliable addresses around.
