Jo Landron took over his father's domaine in 1990 and expanded it from 26 to 50 hectares, becoming one of Muscadet's leading vignerons. After a 1987 herbicide incident nearly poisoned his vines, he eliminated all chemicals and achieved organic certification in 2002, followed by Biodyvin biodynamic certification in 2011. The "Amphibolite" takes its name from the greenish metamorphic bedrock—formed from gabbro or basalt, rich in iron and magnesium—that gives pronounced minerality. Pure Melon de Bourgogne from vines 23-40 years old, wild yeast fermented in glazed cement, aged sur lie for four months. Never chaptalized, naturally low alcohol, bottled unfined and unfiltered with slight retained CO2. Bright citrus, pronounced salinity, oceanic minerality. Essential with oysters.

Wine Spectator

89 points

"Refreshing and light-bodied, with mineral-driven energy behind its light notes of pear and meadow blossoms. Yeasty, salty drive keeps this focused and bright. Drink now through 2028."

More about Jo Landron

Jo Landron put minerality on the Muscadet map before anyone else knew it was worth the argument. Working the Sèvre's upper slopes with organic practices and radical precision, he's elevated Muscadet from everyday quaffer to a wine that genuinely expresses granite and schist. His Amphibolite cuvée proves the point beautifully.
