Givry's reference producer in its firmer, more structured cru. Domaine Joblot has spent decades proving that the Cote Chalonnaise makes some of the best-value Pinot Noir anywhere, working the same Jurassic limestone as the Cote d'Or but without the famous-name markup. The Servoisine vineyard sits just east of Cellier aux Moines with a nearly due-south exposure, and it gives a more virile, tightly structured wine that always rewards patience. The 2012 has now had that patience: well over a decade in, it's opened into mature, savory complexity. Drink over the next several years.

More about Joblot

Givry used to be the Burgundy everyone overlooked. Joblot changed that. Juliette Joblot's family has been making wine here since after WWI, but it's her modern sensibility—less new oak, more transparency—that's making Givry wines sing. These are gorgeous, charming reds with a track record for aging gracefully.

Medium-bodied Pinot Noir with more grip than its sibling: mature red and dark fruit, earth, dried herbs and spice. Resolved tannins, fresh acidity. Drinking well now.
