Les Boudots sits at the very northern edge of Nuits-Saint-Georges, pressed against the Vosne-Romanee border, and it shows: this is the most perfumed and silken of the great NSG Premier Crus, drawing as much from Vosne's red-fruit elegance as from Nuits' deeper structure. Louis Jadot's Beaune-based negociant-domaine, with Frederic Barnier at the cellar helm, has a long history of polishing these top sites without losing their address. The classical 2017 vintage produced Cote de Nuits reds of refinement and clarity, and this Boudots is now drinking beautifully, with another decade-plus of life ahead.

"Restrained and agreeably spicy nose of both red and dark cherry fruit is trimmed in just enough earth and wood nuances to remark upon. There is fine punch to the admirably rich, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess impressive persistence on the mouth coating, complex and moderately structured finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is an opulent yet muscular and robust Boudots that should amply reward at least a decade of cellaring."

Antonio Galloni

"The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a refined, precise bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry, woodland and cigar box aromas that gently waft from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity, quite caressing in terms of texture, with gentle but insistent grip toward the finish. This is a fine, quite assured Les Boudots that should give 12 to 18 years of drinking pleasure." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots (Domaine Gagey) wafts from the glass with aromas of dark fruit, licorice, baking chocolate and exotic spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and gourmand, with rich but fine-grained structuring tannins and succulent acids. It's a charming example of Jadot's Boudots that will make friends out of the gates but age with grace." —William Kelley

More about Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859, Jadot is one of Burgundy's great estates and négociants, with 600 acres scattered across the region's best vineyards—Chablis to Moulin-à-Vent. They make hundreds of wines, but each bottle carries the iconic Bacchus emblem and the weight of nearly two centuries of accumulated wisdom. Burgundy without the pretension.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Roast squab, pheasant with chestnuts, or a classic coq au vin. Mushroom-forward dishes flatter the wine's developing tertiary notes. A wedge of aged Comte or Epoisses works for the final pour.

Tasting Profile

Red cherry, raspberry, and rose petal lead a perfumed nose touched with sweet spice and a whisper of underbrush. The palate is silken and finely framed, with elegant tannins and a saline, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2032.
