A cool-Coast California white blend from a husband-and-wife project to know. Ryan Pace and Natalie Siddique founded Outward Wines in 2016 - he trained at Cal Poly and spent seven years as winemaker at Byron in Santa Maria; she fell in love with the wild coastal park called Montaña de Oro, which now lends its name to this cuvée. The blend pulls three white varieties from three cool-influenced Central Coast sites, ferments with native yeasts, ages exclusively in old French oak, and goes to bottle without fining or filtration. "Mountain of Gold" in name, salty Pacific air in the glass. A delicious, restless little white that gives Loire and northern Italy fans plenty to chew on.

Ryan Pace and Natalie Siddique started Outward Wines in 2016 to share their love of Syrah and the Central Coast of California. Now they farm six acres across San Luis Obispo Coast and the Santa Ynez Valley, plus they source from other thoughtfully farmed, coastal-influenced vineyards. It's small-lot, site-specific, and serious about terroir. Avant-Garde Wine & Spirits imports them. The kind of project that starts with passion and scales only as far as principle allows.

Perfect Pairings

Drink with oysters, ceviche, lemony pasta with clams, grilled vegetables, roasted halibut, or a half chicken with herbs and lemon. Versatile across the table and pairs nicely with goat cheese and crudités.

Tasting Profile

Pale gold. Yellow apple, lemon pith, white flowers, salted pear, ripe quince, chamomile, and oyster shell. Medium-bodied with bracing, focused acidity, a gently textured lees mid-palate, and a dry, mineral, salt-flecked finish that goes long.
