A truly magnificent expression of Riesling from a one-of-a-kind vineyard. Originally planted in 1990, this was Dr. Toni Bodenstein's first exploration into the diverse biotypes of Riesling vines. He started with 25 different cuttings from around the world, and in 2015 his son Robert expanded that to 60. Such diversity in the vineyard makes for an incredibly complex wine unlike anything else. Situated at 1,500 feet atop the Ried Hinter Seiber vineyard—the highest elevation plot in Wachau—the vines grow in meager, stony paragneiss soils and are the last to be harvested.

A bottle shared with fellow Austrian wine lovers in pre-pandemic days is one we are still talking about.
