The friendly, fruit-first face of Prieler's Blaufränkisch — and the best way in. This Oggau 'Johanneshöhe' bottling is blended from nine vineyards on the Leithaberg slopes, almost all brown earth over Muschelkalk (shell-limestone), iron- and fossil-rich soil that lends the wine its character. Where the single-vineyard reds chase power and structure, this one deliberately foregrounds elegance, drinkability and pure red fruit, with tannin and spice playing a supporting role. Aged mostly in large traditional wooden casks and released after a couple of years, it arrives ready to enjoy. Serious pedigree, everyday pleasure.

"The 2022 Blaufränkisch Oggau Johanneshöhe comes from Prieler's younger vines, fermented with whole berries and extracted gently, with press fractions separated for blending later. It was matured for three years in a mix of used barrels. The nose is beautifully scented with cinnamon and vivid cherry.
