The second wine of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac 2nd Growth and one of the Left Bank's most iconic estates. Pichon Comtesse has been owned by the Rouzaud family of Champagne Louis Roederer since 2007, with Nicolas Glumineau as Directeur Général (General Manager and Winemaker). Reserve de la Comtesse, established in 1973, draws fruit from parcels adjacent to Chateau Latour and carries a higher Merlot percentage than the grand vin, giving it a softer, more aromatic, earlier-accessible profile. The 2023 vintage is a current release showing Pauillac's classical proportions: dark fruit, cedar, fine grain, and that unmistakable Pichon Comtesse perfume. A graceful, expressive introduction to one of Bordeaux's great houses.

Perfect Pairings

Roast leg of lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, herb-roasted chicken, mushroom risotto, or aged cow's-milk cheeses like Comte and Mimolette. Excellent with classic French bistro fare.

Tasting Profile

Medium- to full-bodied, supple, and perfumed. Black cherry, plum, cassis, cedar, pencil shavings, and violet. Polished, fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and a long, aromatic, classically Pauillac finish.
