More about Reyane & Pascal Bouley

For fans of classic Volnay, the Bouley name has long meant tiny parcels of the village's best premiers crus, made in a straightforward, traditional way by a family with generations of roots in the village.

Pascal Bouley was the sixth generation in Volnay. His mother was a Rossignol, and it was his grandfather Jean Rossignol who first bottled wine at the estate. With his wife Réyane, Pascal ran a domaine of around nine hectares, centered on Volnay with small holdings in Pommard and Monthelie. Their premiers crus read like a tour of the village in miniature: Clos des Chênes, Champans, Robardelles, Ronceret and Grands Champs, plus a sliver of Santenots, most of them well under half a hectare.

Their son Pierrick joined in 2009 and has made the wines since the 2014 vintage. From 2020 the estate has been called Domaine Pierrick Bouley, though bottles sold in France have kept the Réyane & Pascal name. Pierrick has farmed organically since 2015 (certified in 2023) and now destems everything; in Pascal's day new oak was kept to a modest 10 to 20 percent. Expect perfumed, finely structured Pinot Noir that shows off the differences between Volnay's sites and ages gracefully.
