A rare older Roagna Barolo from the great 1996 vintage, now nearly three decades on and deep into maturity. Roagna is one of Piedmont's most revered traditionalists, farming old vines without compromise and aging Nebbiolo for years in large neutral casks before release. This historic bottling draws on the La Rocca e La Pira site in Castiglione Falletto, and after this much time it shows the haunting dried-flower, tar, leather and forest-floor complexity that only mature Nebbiolo from a serious grower can offer. This is a back-vintage bottle from a private collection - a genuine collector's piece. Decant well ahead, give it plenty of air, and treat it as the rare survivor it is.

More about Roagna

Luca Roagna is the fifth generation in a family that's been making wine in Barbaresco since the 1850s. His Dolcetto comes from vines over 45 years old, fermented with real patience and aged in neutral oak. This is the kind of wine that makes you wonder why everyone doesn't make Dolcetto this seriously.
