Tegan Passalacqua's everyday Sandlands red, and arguably one of the best gateways into his entire universe. The blend is a co-fermentation of three Lodi old-vine landmarks: Cinsault from Bechtold Vineyard (planted in 1886, some of the oldest Cinsault vines on earth), Carignane from Spenker Ranch, and Zinfandel from Tegan's own Kirschenmann Vineyard in Victor (planted 1915). All three sites share the sandy granitic loam that gives Sandlands its name, all are head-trained and dry-farmed, all are treated with the same low-intervention restraint Tegan brings to his single-vineyard bottlings. The result is a juicy, perfumed, gulpable red that punches far above its weight and never lets you forget that Lodi was great long before it was rediscovered.

Tasting Profile
