XXVI Talhas is a labor of love: a group of friends from the village of Vila Alva who revived Mestre Daniel's old Alentejo cellar and its 26 clay amphorae, the talhas that give the project its name. Wine made this way goes back to the Romans, fermenting crushed grapes (sometimes with stems) right in the clay. Palhete do Tareco is a palhete, an old Portuguese style co-fermenting white and red grapes into a light, juicy red. The 'do Tareco' name honors the small home winemakers of Vila Alva who kept the tradition alive in their own little clay pots. Fresh, glou-glou and full of character, this is amphora wine for everyday joy.
