The straight-up Fleurie from one of Beaujolais' brightest young natural-wine stars. Yann Bertrand, who learned from the likes of Jean Foillard and Yvon Metras, farms organically and biodynamically on Fleurie's signature decomposed-granite soils, working with no added yeast or sulfur for wines that are pure, floral and full of life. Fleurie is the cru that earns its "queen of Beaujolais" reputation, all perfume and silk, and Yann's village bottling captures that lift in approachable form. The 2013, a cooler vintage, has aged gracefully and is now a mature bottle from a private collection. Easygoing on the surface, serious underneath.

Antonio Galloni

90 points

"Vivid ruby-red. Deeply pitched dark berry and cherry pit aromas, along with hints of smoked meat, licorice and black pepper. Offers concentrated blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that unfold slowly, picking up a spicy nuance on the back half. Clings with very good authority on the finish, which is framed by chewy, slow-building tannins. Give this one some more time in the bottle, by all means." —Josh Raynolds
