Featherweight, sulfur-free Fleurie from Yann Bertrand, one of the most chased-after young growers in Beaujolais. Trained alongside legends like Jean Foillard and Yvon Metras, Yann makes the Cuvee du Chaos from his oldest vines, 80 to 110 years old, planted in decomposed granite, with no added yeast or sulfur, carbonic maceration and aging in large neutral vessels. It's that rare top bottling that aims for delicacy and perfume rather than power. The 2014, a cooler, fresher vintage, plays perfectly into the wine's floral, silky character, and now shows lovely bottle age as a mature bottle from a private collection. Beaujolais at its most ethereal.
