The Ai Suma represents Braida's crowning achievement—a late-harvest Barbera from the estate vineyards in Rocchetta Tanaro born from Giacomo Bologna's visionary thinking in 1989. The name carries the Piedmontese spirit: "Ai Suma" means "there we are," the phrase Bologna uttered when first tasting the wine. This is Barbera elevated to serious territory through meticulous winemaking: grapes harvested late, fermented with extended skin contact, then aged for 15 months in oak before resting in bottle. The 2020 is densely concentrated, with aromas of cassis, berries, eucalyptus, liquorice and cocoa, supported by sensual freshness and elegant tannin structure. This is a meditation on Barbera's capacity for depth and ageability.
