Meix Foulot, a fiercely traditional estate run by Agnes de Launay (imported by Neal Rosenthal), uses virtually no new oak and farms exclusively within Mercurey. Flatiron patiently waits for the late-arriving releases to reach their ready-to-drink window, which is exactly where this Mercurey 1er Cru sits at fifteen years. The 2010 was a classic, structured vintage, and Mercurey's high-altitude limestone slopes keep it vibrant and energetic. With the Edges of Burgundy facing real pricing pressure, this remains a rare honest bargain.
