Fichet on his home turf, in arguably his most prized recent vintage. Jean-Philippe Fichet is one of Meursault's most quietly revered producers, a self-made vigneron who founded his estate in 1985. His village Meursault is the platonic Fichet expression: barrel-fermented with essentially no new oak, raised for a patient eighteen months on the lees with almost no stirring, the terroir laid bare. 2019 brought concentration and structure to the Côte de Beaune — old vines and deep roots absorbed the warmth, and Fichet's restrained hand kept everything taut. Expect a denser, more powerful Meursault than the 2018 alongside it: white peach, hazelnut, beeswax, lemon curd, with the textural weight of a great vintage and the saline cut that is Fichet's signature. Drinking beautifully now with years ahead.
