Meursault in miniature is how Neal Rosenthal, who has imported Bitouzet-Prieur since 1978, describes their whites - and this Bourgogne Blanc lives up to it, drawing on the family's Volnay-and-Meursault roots for far more depth than its humble label suggests. The estate sits in Volnay, and their white-wine vineyards reach into Meursault itself, so the Chardonnay here has genuine Cote de Beaune pedigree at a fraction of the cost. The 2012 came from a small, concentrated vintage that produced whites of real intensity. Drink now: this is built for pleasure rather than the cellar.

Antonio Galloni

88 points

"The 2012 Bourgogne is fleshy, sensual and inviting. Crushed flowers, sweet spices and anise linger on the finish. The 2012 was bottled about six weeks before this tasting. I will not be surprised if it turns out even better than this note suggests." —Antonio Galloni

More about Bitouzet-Prieur

Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur sits in the heart of Volnay, born from the marriage of Vincent Bitouzet and Ann Prieur, combining their family's vineyard holdings. Today, Francois Bitouzet works alongside his parents, maintaining organic viticulture with techniques like sexual confusion to reduce insect pressure. Their Passetoutgrains—two-thirds old-vine Pinot Noir, one-third Gamay from a single vineyard plot—receives proper élevage in used barrels. This is lovely, complex Burgundy that delivers sheer pleasure without pretension.
