Camus-Bruchon is a longtime Flatiron favorite and one of the surest sources of honest, affordable red Burgundy. Based in Savigny-les-Beaune, the domaine farms a trove of old vines — some centenarian — and works in a thoroughly traditional vein. Les Lavieres is one of Savigny's most respected premier cru sites, sitting near the Beaune border on stony, iron-rich soils that give a wine of real structure and lift. The 2010 is a classic, fresh, age-worthy vintage, and at fifteen years it has settled into a mature, savory groove. Genuine premier cru character without the Cote de Nuits markup.

More about Camus-Bruchon

Guillaume Camus is one of the most sure-handed winemakers in the Côte de Beaune, based in Savigny-les-Beaune rather than the famous villages that command premium prices. His Chorey-lès-Beaune 'Le Grand Saussy' is fleshy and complex from the start, and it's one of the great bargains in red Burgundy. Hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, the fruit comes from organically farmed vines, and the result is brilliant wine at genuinely accessible prices. Chorey-lès-Beaune is the last bastion of affordable red Burgundy, and Camus-Bruchon is the reason.
