We're bringing one of Chile's greatest estates to the Flatiron Wine School mezzanine on Thursday, September 26 for a masterclass on the amazing old vines, soils and sites of this fascinating wine nation, led by co-owner Sebastián De Martino.

Since 1934, four generations of the De Martino family have specialized in producing wines that stand out because of their sense of place, purity and balance. They farm sustainably and use traditional winemaking techniques in order to produce wines that represent the family and faithfully reflect the vineyards they come from. In the years since then, the De Martino family have become leaders in innovation, scouring the country in search of sites that can showcase the potential of Chile’s many sites and terroirs. Their current focus is on wines from Maipo and Itata but they also make wines from Maule, Cachapoal, Malleco, Limarí and Casablanca.

Sebastián was born in 1980 in Isla de Maipo and grew up playing amongst the vines on his family’s property, so his interest in the world of wine developed naturally from a very young age. Today, he is the Commercial Manager and driving force behind the new projects at the winery, together with his brother Marco Antonio.

The cost of this seminar is $30 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Thursday, September 26 for this special evening.

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
