John Truax once bought five cases of this exact wine and asked winemaker David Croix what to say about it; David's answer was that it just needs 15 years, calling it the most intense, most concentrated Pertuisots he'd ever made (from 35-year-old vines at a tiny 20 hl/ha), and one of his top three wines since 2005. David, a star of his generation alongside Cecile Tremblay and Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, runs the Beaune estate built from old Domaine Duchet holdings, named for its winemaker David Croix, who took over the former Domaine Duchet in 2005. We're now hitting that 15-year mark, so the 2012 Beaune 1er Cru Pertuisots is finally coming into its own. Decant it; David noted it sang after ten hours of air.

If you aren't with familiar with Domaine des Croix, there is one thing you should know: we love David Croix! He begin his winemaking career straight out of viticulture school when he took over the reigns at Camille Giroud (as well as working with Guy Roulot), when he was just 24 years old. In 2016 he quit his day job to focus entirely on his own small domaine, which he purchased back in 2005.
