An honest, affordable entry into a fast-rising Morey-Saint-Denis estate. Virgile Lignier has hit his stride, and Flatiron met him years ago as a thoughtful young vigneron clearly going places. He continues his family's traditional practices (the domaine was discovered by the late Becky Wasserman) while using sustainable farming with organic treatments, ambient-yeast fermentations and whole-cluster where it helps. This Bourgogne Rouge is village-level Cote de Nuits Pinot Noir, often declassified fruit from a serious address. The 2015 was a warm, generous vintage and this is drinking beautifully now. Already hard to find, with prices expected to climb.
