The same high-slope village lieu-dit, now in a riper guise. Virgile Lignier has fully hit his stride, farming sustainably with organic treatments while honoring his family's traditional Morey roots; Flatiron met him years ago as a young vigneron clearly going places. En la Rue de Vergy sits high on the Morey-Saint-Denis slope, a village lieu-dit prized for minerality and energy. Where the cooler 2013 leans savory and structured, the 2015 brings the warmth and generosity of a rich, ripe vintage, the fruit fuller and rounder. Drinking well now with plenty of upside to cellar. Already hard to find, with prices expected to explode.

Antonio Galloni

89 points

"Bright, moderately saturated medium red. Very ripe, complex nose combines raspberry, mocha and mineral notes with suggestions of exotic fruits. Plush and seamless in the mouth, conveying a restrained sweetness and considerable early charm. Finishes classically dry, with inviting soil tones and ripe tannins." —Stephen Tanzer

Robert Parker

90 points

"The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis En La Rue de Vergy has a lifted blackberry and raspberry-scented bouquet, touches of black pepper and damp undergrowth emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin. It feels foursquare at first, rather backward and serious, although it opens towards the finish with a tang of orange rind on the lightly peppered finish. Give this 3-4 years in bottle if you can, because there is fine substance in this En La Rue de Vergy." —Neal Martin

Jancis Robinson

16 points

"Candied red fruit nose, simple palate with a light vanilla spice to finish. Easy-going, drinkable – but perhaps a little straightforward at the price." —Richard Hemming MW
