Jean-Marc Roulot’s wines are benchmarks for modern white Burgundy—tense, textural, and transparent—and few show his style more clearly than Clos des Bouchères. This walled 1er Cru vineyard sits high on the slope, and in 2020, it delivers a wine of pure mineral focus, delicate citrus, and understated power.

Expect aromas of lemon peel, white flowers, and cool limestone, with a palate that’s sleek, salty, and quietly expansive. There’s a core of ripe citrus and green orchard fruit, but the fruit never oversteps—it’s the tension and finish that take center stage. Everything is in balance: low-intervention farming, gentle oak aging, and long élevage in used barrels create a wine that’s as much about feel as flavor.

2020 gave ripe fruit, but Roulot preserved the energy: this is Meursault without the fat—chiseled, bright, and built to age. A stunning match for scallops, white asparagus, or anything buttery and briny.

Drink now with a decant, or cellar it for 5–10+ years to watch the texture unfold.

"There is just enough reduction present to blur the nuances of the fruit but the expected spice elements are in abundance. There is excellent verve and freshness on the palate of the sleek, refined and focused medium-bodied flavors that flash focused power on the dusty, compact and serious finale that makes clear that it is built-to-age. Fine potential here."

"As usual, a blend of Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits, the 2022 Echezeaux Grand Cru is broad and enveloping, bursting with aromas of dark cherries, raspberries, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a fleshy core of fruit, supple tannins and lively underlying acidity, it will offer a wide drinking window."

More about Domaine Roulot

The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his fathers success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.
