Gaston Chiquet, an eighth-generation grower in the Vallée de la Marne, crafts this rare Blanc de Blancs from Chardonnay grown in the Pinot Noir–dominant Grand Cru village of Aÿ. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on lees for over three years, it combines freshness with depth.

This unusual terroir expression offers a richer style of Blanc de Blancs while retaining elegance. Ideal as an aperitif or with seafood and light poultry.

Robert Parker

92 points

"Disgorged in January 2019, the latest release of Gaston Chiquet's NV Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs d'Aÿ is showing beautifully, opening in the glass with scents of crisp yellow orchard fruit, white flowers, blanched almonds and fresh peach. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and charming, with a succulent core of fruit, a delicate pinpoint mousse and a nicely defined finish. Elegant and expressive, this is a beautifully balanced Blanc de Blancs that would make for a perfect aperitif." —Robert Parker

Wine Spectator

90 points

"An expressive Champagne, with tangy orange peel acidity enlivening white cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. A lively sipper, with a lacy mousse, a chalky underpinning and hints of lemon curd, pickled ginger and spring blossoms on the finish."

More about

Nicolas Chiquet planted the first vines in 1746, and eight generations of Chiquets have tended Dizy's soil ever since. Gaston registered the company in 1935 and expanded to Aÿ, Cumières, and Hautvillers. Antoine and Nicolas Chiquet now run things—hands-on, honest, focused on the vineyards. These grower Champagnes are innately lovable, tactful, and attractive.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
