Cuvee 3.14 is Jean Foillard's special-occasion Morgon — a tiny-production selection of his very oldest Cote du Py vines, named with a wink to pi (drawn from his oldest Cote du Py vines, roughly a century old). Foillard, one of the "Gang of Four" who made natural Beaujolais famous, gives this old-vine fruit a longer elevage in old oak, yielding his deepest, most structured wine. The 2010 is a serious back-vintage bottle from a private cellar, now fully mature and showing the savory, Burgundian complexity these old vines deliver. A rare, special wine for a Foillard devotee.

More about Jean Foillard

Jean Foillard is a natural-wine icon and charter member of Beaujolais' legendary 'gang of four'—those who answered Jules Chauvet's call to refuse pesticides, chaptalisation, and filtration. For half a century, his 14 organically farmed hectares have produced Morgon from the famed Côte du Py, with its roches pourries (rotten rock) of decomposed granite and schist. His wines are serious, lush, and utterly unforgettable.
