Classical Cote-Rotie from one half of the famous Jamet family. Jean-Luc Jamet split from brother Jean-Paul in 2013, taking half of the original 16-hectare estate and continuing the multi-parcel, classical Cote-Rotie blend the family built its reputation on. His domaine red draws from sites across both schist (Cote Brune) and granitic (Cote Blonde) lieux-dits — Lancement, Fongeant, La Landonne, Chavaroche, Rochains and others — for a wine of real perfume and structure. The 2021 is the cool, classical vintage Northern Rhone fans have been waiting for: violets, black olive, cracked pepper, smoked bacon, blueberry and crushed stone, with fresh acidity and the supple tannins that make young Cote-Rotie so dangerously drinkable. Built for the long haul.

More about Jean-Luc Jamet

The Jamet name means Côte-Rôtie, and Jean-Luc splits from his brother's traditionalism by using less whole-bunch fermentation—about 30%—to emphasize floral elements and vitality. Eight hectares of mixed granite, schist, and sand soils high above Ampuis yield Côte-Rôties that feel fresh and alive.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

The Northern Rhone table: peppered steak frites, slow-braised short ribs, duck with olives, lamb shoulder with rosemary, or game birds. A few hours in a carafe will only help; will sing with the cheese course too.

Tasting Profile

Medium- to full-bodied, classical Syrah. Violets, blueberry, cracked black pepper, smoked bacon, olive tapenade and crushed granite. Tannins are supple, acidity bright on cool-vintage lift. Open and aromatic now, with 15-plus years ahead.
