Corton is the Cote de Beaune's only red Grand Cru, and Pougets is one of its most distinguished climats, sitting on the storied slopes of the Corton hill. Domaine Rapet, organically farmed with roots dating to 1765 in neighboring Pernand-Vergelesses, ages this in a modest portion of new oak to let the site speak. Grand Cru Corton is a wine built for the long haul, all structure and depth in youth. The 2009 was a ripe, generous Burgundy vintage, which has helped this fill out, and at over fifteen years it's entering a mature, expressive window. Decant generously.
