Corbon’s Champagne Avize Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 2014 is a brilliant expression of Chardonnay from the prestigious grand cru vineyards of Avize in the Côte des Blancs. This single-vintage Champagne captures the elegance and precision of the 2014 harvest, offering a nose of white peach, lemon zest, and green apple, intertwined with delicate floral notes and a hint of crushed chalk. On the palate, it is vibrant and refined, with flavors of Meyer lemon, pear, and toasted almond, underscored by a persistent minerality and bright acidity. The finish is long, clean, and refreshingly complex.

The Corbon family’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking shines in this cuvée. Grapes are hand-harvested from mature vines rooted in the chalk-rich soils that define the Côte des Blancs. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel to preserve freshness, followed by extended aging on lees to develop depth and texture. The wine is bottled with minimal dosage, emphasizing its purity and the terroir’s inherent character.

Avize Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 2014 is a sophisticated partner for elegant dishes such as lobster, scallops, or creamy risottos. Its lively acidity and mineral backbone also make it a delightful aperitif for moments of celebration. This Champagne is a testament to Corbon’s artistry and the timeless allure of Chardonnay from one of Champagne’s most revered villages.

More about Corbon

Claude Corbon, a third-generation grower, started bottling his own wines in 1971 instead of selling to the cooperative. His daughter Agnès took over in 2006 and has quietly built something real—six hectares split between the Vallée de la Marne and Avize, farmed with minimal intervention, bottled with conviction. These are grower Champagnes in the best sense: they taste like the vineyard, like the year, not like a house style imposed from above.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
