Top-tier Gevrey 1er Cru from Jadot in a structured vintage. Lavaux Saint-Jacques sits in the Combe de Lavaux, the cool side-valley above Gevrey village, on calcareous-clay soils that give wines a marine, mineral edge alongside Gevrey's signature dark-fruited muscle. Frédéric Barnier has been Jadot's technical director since 2013, and the house style under his hand is precise, classical, age-worthy. 2019 was a concentrated, structured Burgundy vintage — generous ripeness paired with firm tannic architecture — and this bottle is built for the long game. Six years in, it's just starting to show what it'll become: dense, layered Gevrey with serious cellar upside. Decant aggressively or sit on it.

Antonio Galloni

94 points

"The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has an outgoing and almost exotic bouquet of kirsch, orange peel and just a touch of Seville orange marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and well-integrated oak. Very harmonious in style. I appreciate the delineation of this Premier Cru and the minerality and tension that flows on the finish. Well-crafted and stylish." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques (Domaine Louis Jadot) opens in the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis and plums, complemented by hints of smoke and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and charming, it's bright and elegant, with fine tannins and a long, mineral finish." —William Kelley

More about Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859, Jadot is one of Burgundy's great estates and négociants, with 600 acres scattered across the region's best vineyards—Chablis to Moulin-à-Vent. They make hundreds of wines, but each bottle carries the iconic Bacchus emblem and the weight of nearly two centuries of accumulated wisdom. Burgundy without the pretension.
